Tick Tock, Tick Tock…Saving Time with Innovation Web Tools
In the Tick Tock, Tick Tock…Saving Time with Innovation Web Tools, a group of three individuals presented about free time saving tools online to use in the classroom. While they only presented a few tools, most of them I had never heard of. The tools presented were Leno.it, Pen.it, Google Docs, Tiki Toki, and the Smithsonian virtual tour.
My two favorite tools they used were Tiki Toki and the Smithsonian virtual tour. Tiki Toki is an online timeline. There are several tools online for timeline creating. This is a tool that I think could be very easy to introduce into art. Students could make a timeline about an artist, an art movement, or even a timeline of their own artwork. The best part about Tiki Toki was that in the process of creating the timeline pop ups would come up to give you more knowledge of how to change things on your timeline. Text, images, and videos can be included in the timeline. In addition to Tiki Toki, I really loved the Smithsonian Virtual Tour. On this site, students could virtually move around the museum. I really like the idea of virtual tours sincePierreis 3 ½ hours away from any major cities that would have art museums. I think these experiences of seeing places shape our thinking and give us diversity in experiences. I have used the virtual tours in Google Art Project in my class and my student loved the experience. Why shouldn’t we be using these tools that allow us to travel the world in one class period?
